There's a couple of...</title><content type='html'>Balanced thinking there Jon. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There&amp;#39;s a couple of archetypal examples of companies that get close to moving away from hierarchy - Semler and there&amp;#39;s the Danish company whose name I can never recall - but they are outliers.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What springs to my mind as notable is that most of the network organisations I know of either produce something very intangible (software) or are basically franchises with very small (often 1 person) units or contract out things like manufacturing to other (more hierarchical) entities.
